Gabi came back to Hungary for a visit earlier this month, and this past weekend we took her to Sopron for a few days. We stayed in the old city center, and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We had ample opportunity to walk and talk in the relaxed atmosphere and beautiful surroundings.
On our way back to Budapest we visited the Eszterházy Palace, one of the many estates of the Eszterházy family. It was built in the 18th Century in the Hungarian Baroque-Rococo style, and is perhaps most famous as being the place where Joseph Haydn spent
almost 30 years of his life as Prince Miklós József's music director (kappellmeister), and where he composed many of his symphonies, operas, and string quartets.
