Last night many of the friends of the Budapest Ministry Center (Közhely) joined together to celebrate Christmas at our annual Christmas program. We ended up with standing room only, so many people came. Our final count was 72 children and adults!! This was our largest ever attendance at one of our church programs!
Christmas music was of course one of the highlights of the program, both in English and in Hungarian. Jan and Jerry Coleman led a medley of familiar English Christmas carols early on in the program, and the program concluded with a medley of traditional Hungarian Christmas carols. The evening concluded with "Silent Night" sung by candlelight in English and Hungarian.
Another special part of the evening was two songs presented by Péter Tóth, Zsuzsanna Donáth, and Zsuzsanna's son. The combination of voices, mandolin, recorder, and guitar gave a special feeling to the evening. You can enjoy one of these songs in the video below, even if you don't understand Hungarian.
Ildikó, Júlia, and Larry recited Christmas-themed poems and Ákos read out the Christmas story from Luke. Péter gave a short Christmas sermon, and clearly presented the reason that Christmas is so important to all of us -- the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ the Lord!
The formal program lasted about an hour, but people stayed around for more that two hours afterward, enjoying each others' company and enjoying the wonderful Christmas treats that everyone brought to share!
